True Story Trish’s college friend Shoneji Robison and Catarah Hampshire began Southern Girl Desserts to create tasty desserts with roots from the South.

Trish connection with Southern Girl Desserts goes way more deeper than my love for their red velvet cupcake and that is why today she is going to take over of my blog and tell you our amazing experience at the cafe.

La relación de Trish con Southern Girl Desserts va más allá que mi gusto por el red velvet cupcake, delicioso! Ya que Trish conoce la historia de este hermoso lugar he decido dejar mi blog en sus manos, hoy ella les contara nuestra hermosa experiencia.

Ale and I fell in love with this beautiful cafe located in the Crenshaw Baldwin Hills mall. It’s beautifully decorated with photos from both of the female entrepreneurs families. Some of their recipes were handed down from their grandmothers and Mom’s who crafted delicious cakes and pies from scratch. We sampled their sweet potato pie cupcakes (their best seller) and their red velvet cupcakes.

Ale y yo nos enamoramos con el cafe; Southern Girl Desserts se encuentra ubicado en el centro comercial: Crenshaw Baldwin Hill. La decoración del cafe es hermosa y personalizada con fotos de las familias de las fundadoras. Un cafe con raíces de familia desde la decoración hasta algunas de las recetas las cuales viene de familia. Nosotras degustamos dos sabores de cupcakes red velvet y papa dulce (el mejor vendido).

I love my dates with Trish specially when she takes me to unique places with delicious treats. I tried the red velvet cupcake with an almond milk latte the perfect combo for a “tea time”. I loved how soft and tasty was my cupcake so far the best red velvet cupcake that I ever try in LA. I liked so much that I had to bring home some for my husband to try and he absolutely loved the sweet potato cupcake.

Me encantan mis días con Trish especialmente cuando ella me lleva a lugares con deliciosos postres. Mi combo para la “hora del té” fue red velvet cupcake y latte en leche de almendras, me encanto lo suave y el sabor del cupcake. El mejor cupcake que he probado en LA. Me gusto tanto que tenia que compartir con mi esposo, debo decir que jamas lo había visto comer un cupcake completo.

I devoured their lemon and blueberry vegan cake and I was in heaven! It redefined the meaning of sweet treats. I saw Ale’s eyes and she was in heaven too. What’s in Southern Girl Desserts? I mean it’s unbelievable and dare I say it might be the best cupcakes I’ve ever has in LA, but I could be biased but seriously they are exceptional. Their treats are so fresh and flavorful that just melts in your mouth. It was a religious experience. I know it’s crazy right, but a lot of Southern Girl Desserts believers kept their cafe really busy during our time there. It’s safe to safe to say Shoneji and Catarah know how to make Yumalicious (new word) desserts!

Yo me devoré una torta vegana de limón y arándanos, con el primer bocado me sentí en el cielo! Me di cuenta por los ojos de Ale que ella también estaba en el cielo. Que tiene los postres de Southern Girl Desserts? Son espectaculares y me atrevo a decir que son los mejores cupcakes que he probado en Los Angeles, realmente son excelentes. Son tan frescos y con un sabor exquisito que se derriten en la boca. Shoneji y Catarah saben como hacer exquisitos postres.

You can also stop by if you’re craving sweet potato pies, peach cobbler, and various cakes that can be made to order as well. One of the best things about SGD is that they now have gluten free, vegan and Nutritarian options that are just delicious! So a little something for everyone 🙂 Southern Girl Desserts aren’t winners of the Cupcake Wars for nothing!!
